Just because you’re a fan of something doesn’t mean you readily accept every new edition. Truth is, you love something for certain reasons and if those attributes change, you might fall out of love or at least feel lost.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is the most radically altered Surface Pro 2-in-1 I’ve seen in years, and I mostly still love it.

I’m in no way a casual Surface Pro customer. These systems, going back to Surface Pro 3, have been my everyday production and travel computers. I’ve written a thousand stories, edited countless images in Photoshop, edited videos, and drawn many cartoons and portraits on these devices over the years.

I have high expectations and demands of the systems that Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos Panay has shepherded since the first Surface systems. A few years ago, he told me the Surface Pro was his “baby.” Panay’s attention to the fine details of this product line has paid off over the years with consistent quality and utility.
