Sorry Apple, the New iPhone 13 Lineups Are Boring.
The new iPhones are no longer fun and exciting.
Okay, let me guess: what would be the improvement of the next iPhone? Slightly bigger screen? Slightly smaller bezel? One more storage option? Better camera? Truth be told, I’m tired of Apple’s incremental improvement for the recent iPhones.
Understandably, mobile phone innovation has already peaked, and it is very difficult to beat Steve Jobs’ 2007 iPhone reveal. The original iPhone was groundbreaking because Apple was way ahead of its competitors.
Overly Obsessed with Camera Features
The new iPhone 13 series look and feel similar to their previous generation. Watching the iPhone launch event feels like rewatching the previous year’s event. Furthermore, most of the updates were on camera updates, especially for the iPhone 13 Pro series.
I am happy with all the professional cinematic features, especially the Prores recording capability. Also, the ability to shift the focus AFTER shooting is fantastic. As a video producer myself, I find many of the filmmaking features welcoming.
It’s undeniable that there were many upgrades from the iPhone 12 series, but Apple has been giving too much attention to professional filmmakers and photographers.
Apple could have improved in other areas that have been “fixed” by its competitors. For example, the notch has been around for almost FOUR years. Can we have it “removed”, please?
No Longer Fun and Exciting
Apple did everything right during the iPhone 13 launch event, including its copywriting and overall presentation. Still, the announcement itself wasn’t fun because the new features and improvements were kind of expected.
