The Apple iPad Magic Keyboard Is My Keyboard of Choice Until They Fix It
It’s the most expensive keyboard case I’ve ever bought, with many irritating flaws, but 12 months on, it’s my favourite
One of Steve Jobs’ great insights about smartphones was that they didn’t need a hardware keyboard. He thought that applied to tablets too, but that’s only true if you just consume content. If you’re using an iPad for anything else, a keyboard is essential.
I prefer not to think about how many keyboards I’ve bought, and how much money I’ve wasted, but for you, dear reader, I will. I’ve owned keyboard cases from:
- Logitech Slim Folio Pro — not slim enough
- Apple Smart Keyboard — smart connector reliability issues
- Brydge 12.9” (early version) — way too heavy
One of the great, less appreciated advantages of a laptop is that you’re stuck with the keyboard! There is no scope for (expensive) dithering.
Why did I keep changing them? I always wanted one that thinner, lighter, or had better keyboard travel. The grass was always greener. I stopped looking after I bought the Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro 12.9” last year.
