What is a game?

Philosopher Bernard Suits described a game as most anything that has a goal of winning. Yet he immediately countered that premise. If that’s the case, why do we make games inefficient? When we go golfing, why do we use a funny stick when the easiest way to win a round is just simply walk the ball to the green and just drop it in the hole?

We make games inefficient because we like to play.

Play leads to learning in different ways and seeing how things work. To see through the systems and discover new meaning. To critique through misuse.

Cryptocurrency, NFT, and blockchain are all terms with accessibility issues. We hear them, but we don’t really know how to use them. But, what if we turned them into play? I don’t mean “game the market” or use “game theory” or “play-to-earn,” I mean using the existing system inefficiently to play with it like a game.
